Vision & Mission
Imam Zayn-ul-'Abideen (AS) said: “Were people aware of what lies in the obtainment of ILM (knowledge), they would pursue it even though they had to make voyages and endanger their lives to obtain it.” Usul-al-Kafi, vol. 1, p. 35.
The acronym for the Institute of Islamic Learning in the Metroplex – IILM means knowledge in Quranic context and the concepts of knowledge and learning permeate through every activity in the spiriy of the above guidance by Imam Imam Zayn-ul-'Abideen (AS).
Our Vision
Our Mission is :
-
To serve the growing needs of the MUslm community, and to take the logical step for maturity and develop a self-sustaining center of excellence for Islamic Learning for generations to come.
-
To provide religious, educational, and socio-economic services to believers and spread the true message of Islam to non-Muslims in North Texas area.
-
To prepare our future generations to face the challenges and threats of dynamic environment by emphasizing the teachings of Prophet Mohammed(s.a.w) and his Ahlul Bait (AS)
Our Aspiration is:
-
To address the challenge in cognition of the Changing environment. Originality and creativity are indispensable to any culture. Without the ability to adjust itself to changing times and circumstances, a community either withers or dies. Culture can only remain alive by reacting to stimuli as well as pre-empting the winds of change. However strong and appealing the temptation to take refuge in familiar customs, the task of leadership is to look beyond its proverbial base. IILM leadership team is committed to address the challenges of tomorrow.
It is our belief that these challenges must be met not with a slavish adherence to custom, nor with the infatuation with the new, but with a spirit of re-interpreting the original Islamic values and aims. Islamic history is full of incidents when thinkers rose to challenge their times and brought about the synthesis of the old and the new for the betterment of the Ummah.
We are in dire need of ideas - ideas that would take their nourishment from the spirit of Islam but would be more appropriate to the needs of the community in the 21stcentury.
